Cleaning up provider profiles on doctor-rating sites

A step-by-step checklist the office can work through for each provider.

List every provider and location

Include providers who have left in the last few years. Their old profiles may still show your address or phone number.

Search each provider by name and city

Check Google, Healthgrades, Vitals, WebMD, Zocdoc and your main insurers’ directories. Note the address, phone, specialty and photo on each page.

Fix the source, then the page

Update the NPPES NPI record and insurer directories first, because many sites copy from them. Then claim or request corrections on each rating site.

Reply without confirming care

Never confirm a reviewer was a patient or mention treatment. A general thank-you and an invitation to call the practice manager is usually enough.
